Cors Bodeilio Orchids 2020

Orchid hunting at Gwarchodfa Natur Genedlaethol Cors Bodeilio, Ynys Môn / Cors Bodeilio National Nature Reserve, Anglesey 7 June 2020.
Due to CORVID-19 I assumed that the car par would be closed. I drove a short distance from home and parked near my friends home at Talwrn. I then walked the mile or so into the rear of the nature reserve. I wasn’t alone as the ponies at the reserve were being very nosey.
Some nice finds including a white ragged robin.

Swift Boxes

North Wales Wildlife Trust Swift Boxes

We were very luck in 2017 to have three swift boxes fitted on the house by the North Wales Wildlife Trust. Read more about the project at https://www.northwaleswildlifetrust.org.uk/our-projects/swift-conservation-project.
There were fly by’s in late 2017 but no swifts have come to nest with us yet!

Update: A pair of swifts flew by 29 April 2020. One fly by twice and slapped the box. The I watched it disappeared inside the box where is made happy sounds. Not seen them since but fingers crossed they are off feeding and preparing for nesting.

February sunsets

In February I took a photo of the Strait at sunset.

I began the project on 03/02/20 at 5pm and finished 29/02/20 5.35pm. I only missing one evening due to work commitments at RibRide.

Here are all the images with sounds from the Prom.

I never knew what to expect. Some afternoons/evenings were grey but the sun shone under the clouds. A few days were flat grey. Many days were super windy. Most days were inspiring and delightful.

Champagne et Fontaine Orchids 2019

Orchid hunting in the Dordogne around the canton where my father lives, Champagne-et-Fontaine, Dordogne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
At his house the bottom field is now full of lizard tongue orchids. When my parents first moved in, over ten years ago, it was a hard-baked mud field with horses. My father spotted an orchid over the fencing he had installed and then they liked his mowing and they moved in.
